BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Load and unload tank trucks, ships and barges
•Record product temperature and levels in storage tanks
•Climb tank stairs, operate valves and pumps, gauge tanks
•Assist Operations with product transfer alignments including piping, pumps and associated valves
•Perform or assist in the performance of preventive and regular maintenance duties
•Become a member of the Emergency Response Team
•Perform all work in strict accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
•Perform all work in strict accordance with operating policies, procedures and checklists
•Perform work as assigned and directed by Foreman
•Maintain training in Safety and Hazmat requirements at the facility

Position Requirements
EDUCATION:
•Two or four year degree with any discipline from accredited college or university OR meet one of the following experience /specific knowledge
ONE OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
•Honorable discharge US military, any branch OR
•Three years terminal Operations/Maintenance experience OR
•Five years of general industry experience such as workinga manufacturing plant, steel mill, refinery, petrochemical plants, energy related industries, performed construction work on pipe lines, tanks or manifolds, or Have Millwright or industrial mechanical, welding or electrical experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
•Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
•Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
•Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
•The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Must be able to pass respirator fit test
•Must train in Safety and Hazmat requirements at the facility
•Proficient in comprehension of written work orders
•Basic math skills required
•Able to handle working with chemicals, acids and petroleum products and be around vapors with respiratory protection
•Able to work with wrenches and pipe wrenches and other tools
•Requires turning and tightening nuts and bolts lifting up to 50 pounds at times.
•Must be able to work on docks
•Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with all levels of management
•Must be willing to work in outdoors environment
•Must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice during the week, weekends, holidays, etc as dictated by operations
•In order to perform the essential duties, regular work attendance is required
•Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules
•Ability to carry a company issued cell phone/radio and be on-call during and after regular business and non-working hours including after dark hours, for work as may be required, assigned and scheduled as dictated by operations
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, etc.
•Climb ladders and work at high elevations, using the proper safety equipment
•Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, etc. for extended periods of time
•Regularly lift and/or move a up to 100 pounds
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Previous chemical, refining or terminal experience
