Terrain Assistant Shop Manager

OVERVIEW

An Assistant Shop Manager supports the service, selling, and business operations to achieve an engaging and inspiring environment. This includes collaborating with others on operational and visual needs as well as prioritizing development of the associate team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Experience 

Leads by example in cultivating Terrain’s four promises: to welcome, to inspire, to inform and to appreciate our customer Shares product knowledge, new arrivals, and current trends to inform the customer and inspire their indoor and outdoor spaces Collaborates with the Shop Manager and Artisans on the creation of an engaging visual experience that appeals to the customer Utilizes technology to deliver a seamless, omni-channel shopping experience through execution of all omni services

Leadership + Team Management

Actively participates in managing the store environment and customer experience by facilitating an energized pace, positivity of the team, and management of daily zones Seeks out knowledge to become a product and vendor expert; plans and executes meetings that are collaborative, educational, and elevate employee confidence in servicing the customer Supports the Shop Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent to build bench on the team Provides timely and specific employee feedback to create a culture of action and accountability; prioritizes new hire onboarding and development to protect the employee experience

Visual + Business Operations

Leads daily operating processes such as opening and closing procedures, omni and shipment processes, and helping with facilities or IT issues Assists the Shop Manager in visual needs including store cleanliness, product display standards, stock level maintenance, visual merchandising updates, promotional signage, and markdown execution Adheres to store’s safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store

Communication + Relationships

Contributes to an inclusive and people-first philosophy; engages with employees at all levels to encourage open dialogue, reinforce follow through, and ensure that the store team is heard and supported Checks in with leadership to maintain communication and teamwork on completing store objectives; is open and responsive to feedback Provides insights related to the customer and employee experience and communicates feedback to the Shop Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Terrain brand fan

2+ years leadership experience

Knowledge of home décor trends & gardening

Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the store including nights, weekends, and holidays

Eagerness to learn and grow within the organization
