Introduction:
We are seeking a Test Center Engineer to join our Minerals Grinding business unit team. In this role, you will be responsible for Test Center related technical activities such as data analysis, support of new and existing equipment, and technical training. The ideal candidate will play a significant role in planning and carrying out complex test programs and work closely with internal and external engineers to continue the expansion of automation in the Test Center.
In this position, you will report to the Test Center Manager.
This position is located in York, PA (US) and although the role does not require any travel or forecasted to have any travel, you may be asked to travel up to 10%.
What you’ll do:
• Completing complex engineering calculations.
• Preparing engineering drawings by using good drafting/design and computer programs as approved by Metso.
• Developing technically sound equipment designs that improve accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
• Preparing detailed specifications for the purchase of equipment.
• Applying engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet Test Center requirements.
• Displaying an emphasis on quality ethics and aiming to meet the requirements of the Test Center.
• Assisting in development projects.
• Providing input to facilitate process improvement.
• Developing and modifying test equipment automation and control systems.
• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating Test Center equipment, as necessary, to ensure efficient operations.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Who you are:
• BS Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience using AutoCAD Mechanical would be beneficial.
• Experience in PLC and SCADA systems programming would be beneficial.
• Process control experience would be beneficial.
• Communication skills are important.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Established ability in applying principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Products.
• Should be capable of skillfully working on several projects at one time in a busy team environment.
• Should have a good sense of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation knowledge and ability.
Essential Physical Job Functions and Work Environment
• Regularly required to remain in a stationary position, position self around lab equipment, operate lab equipment, and communicate with team members.
• Regularly required to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolds, mobile equipment.
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Should have the ability to manipulate 60lb buckets onto test equipment at a height from 1-4 ft and remove onto a skid or hand truck for transportation.
• Must be able to observe testing equipment and identify needed adjustments.
