Test Engineer
Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Test Engineer. The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. **What you’ll do:** A Test Engineer is a key role that supports new product development and existing product sustainment in Eaton’s Mission Systems Division (MSD). The Test Engineer will serve as a resource for integrated program teams to develop and maintain application specific Data Acquisition and Control equipment and software. Test Engineers work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and are responsible for successful execution of research, design, development, testing and certification activities. The Test Engineer will: • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, (EHS) concepts are adhered to and incorporated into test equipment and software. • Use basic engineering principles, under the direction of senior engineers to design simple test systems that incorporate electronic circuits, electro-mechanical components, various transducers and sensors, motors, relays, and solenoids for high-pressure pneumatic systems and life support systems. • Support multiple engineering disciplines to develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment for Production and Development/Qual testing. • Develop and maintain LabVIEW software and other platforms to operate test equipment and analyze results. • Learn new skills relevant to data acquisition and specific technologies. • Make recommendations for improvements to equipment, software, processes, etc. to maximize efficiency and support continuous improvement. • Create electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic models; schematics, diagrams, and circuit board layout using standard engineering tools. • Prepare engineering documents, cost estimates, operating manuals, and technical reports. • Learn and implement Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles and rigorous logic methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. • Identify and mitigate risks using standard engineering process improvements. • Breakdown system level customer requirements to the component level and decompose military test methods. Populate compliance matrix and verification of designs. **Qualifications:** Basic Qualifications: + Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited Institution. + Minimum of 1 year of software programming experience, including educational coursework and internships. + This position requires use of information or access to hardware, software and controlled technical data which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. + 1-3 years of technical experience in an aerospace organization.. + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, contract documentation, and government/industry standards and specifications. + Proficient with Excel. **Position Criteria** • Ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks with oversite from a technical leader or engineering manager. • Ability to learn and apply new concepts, software, and engineering principles. • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration with internal and external customers. • Have sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills. • Some experience or familiarity with: o Data Acquisition and Control concepts. o Aerospace methods, regulatory standards, regulations, and certifications. o Failure investigations of technical products or systems. o High pressure pneumatics. o Analog and Digital electronics design. o Embedded microprocessor design. o Structured software development. o Vibration and Thermal environmental stress and analysis. o Electro magnetics (solenoid valves, latch valves, motors). o Sensor technologies and interfacing techniques. o Motor and control systems. o Feedback control systems o Mechatronics and Instruments.
