Test Engineer

Provide technical and programmatic support to the Search Track Acquire Radiate Eliminate (STARE) Program to ensure that all aspects of ongoing and long-range STARE-related test planning activities for US and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) test programs can be accomplished.  Based out of White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), primary responsibility will be in supporting the STARE LTMDS Program Test and Evaluation group, support both domestic and future country-unique test efforts for STARE ground testing, flight testing, and production qualification testing, as required.  The applicant will perform coordination among disciplines within STARE and outside agencies to ensure that all STARE LTAMDS testing is conducted in accordance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) test acquisition programs, policies, procedures, and regulations (e.g., Army Regulation [AR] 70-1, Army Acquisition Policy; AR 73-1, Test and Evaluation [T&E] Policy, DoD Directive 5000.01, The Defense Acquisition System; DA Pamphlet 73-1, T&E in Support of Systems Acquisition, et al).  The applicant will assist in reviewing designated US and FMS STARE -related test documentation, to include mission and system descriptions, integrated test program schedules, integrated T&E strategy, and integrated test program management.  Additional areas of STARE Test support include, but are not limited to, review and assessment of test schedules, hardware/software resource utilization, test objectives and criteria, flight test matrix establishment and definition, target requirements, interoperability test requirements, and special test requirements.

Other areas of responsibility will be to provide support in conducting the applicable STARE Test support meetings, as designated.  As required, the applicant will assist in the preparation of STARE Test briefings or reports to provide recommendations, technical alternatives, and/or test program options.  The applicant must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills (i.e., will prepare and present technical briefings and reports), and must be able to effectively use MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Project).

Required Experience:

The preferred candidate will have at least 2+ years of developmental and/or operational test experience in support of DA/DoD major weapon systems and experience within the of Integrated Fires Rapid Capabilities Office providing System of System (SoS) test support.  Additional desired experience in the interoperability / joint testing experience of major military systems.  Experience should include test support and battalion-level operations, to include communications, interoperability, and joint testing of major military tactical equipment. Other weapon system test experience of interest is with Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (AIAMD) and other medium-to-high altitude air defense weapon systems.  Applicant must have extensive experience in the following areas: DoD and DA T&E Acquisition processes, test requirements analysis, test documentation preparation / review, development and staffing of Test Evaluation Master Plan(s) (TEMP)s, test resources planning / coordination, test scheduling, test range coordination, test conduct, data collection / analysis, and preparation of test reports / briefings.  The applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project in preparation of test and program documentation.

Minimum Education Requirements:  B.S. required in Engineering (preferred), Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics (acceptable). A High School Diploma with 4 additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Level Required:  Secret

Special Requirements and Qualifications:

•Must be able to perform on-site temporary duty assignments (TDY) to various test sites (typically not more than 2 weeks at a time) for up to 20 weeks per year, to include infrequent OCONUS travel

•Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
