Position Summary:
The Test Engineer will create qualification and acceptance test plans and will have overall responsibility for the test lab, test equipment, and execution of testing within.
This position is located in our Saginaw, Michigan facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Convert customer and product requirements into Qualification and Acceptance test plans
+ Identify equipment, instrumentation, fixturing, data collection, and data analysis required for each test
+ Maintain existing lab equipment; suggest enhancements where applicable
+ Specify, procure, and qualify new test equipment, fixtures, and instrumentation as needed
+ Perform tests, analyze results, and write test reports
+ Train colleagues in the use of equipment and performance of tests
+ Assist engineering is the diagnosis and correction of product non-conformance and provide recommendations for enhancements
+ Communicate test status and results to customers and internal stakeholders
+ Collaborate with our sister companies to share and implement best practices
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or Aerospace Engineering
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in product, manufacturing, or validation engineering
+ Strong communication and presentation skills
+ Strong technical writing skills
+ Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic principals
+ Hands on approach with proficiency in the use of hand tools and instrumentation
+ Energetic and self-motivated
+ Ability to travel up to 15%
+ Due to ITAR regulations, must be a U.S. Person
Preferred:
+ 2+ years of previous hardware test experience
+ Basic understanding of controls systems
+ Aerospace and/or Defense Experience
+ Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards in a design and manufacturing environment
+ Familiarity with ball screw products

Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, set-up sheets, travelers, procedure manuals and government regulations.
Computer Skills:
Must be able to use the computer and computer software as required by job.

Work Environment:
The physical surroundings for this position are inside a factory and product manufacturing environment with work split between the offices and shop areas at all the UMBRAGROUP facilities and at customer and/or vendor locations worldwide. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise levels are moderate to loud.
