Avionics Test Engineering offers an array of innovative test equipment solutions for aerospace products and programs, serving both internal and external customers, domestic and international.
Responsibilities
+ Work with our mechanical engineering team to develop new solutions and support ongoing process improvement initiatives for the Wilsonville OR site.
+ Perform assignments requiring the use and application of moderate to complex mechanical engineering principles and techniques.
+ Perform mechanical design and analysis to meet system requirements, with familiarity in electronics integration.
+ Develop and debug skills for the development of mechanical interfaces and components used on multi-rack and optical automated test equipment.
+ Create and modify documentation to support production with mechanical analysis and troubleshooting.
+ Contribute to the success of a cross-functional team to develop solutions to production and field-testing problems, including initial design, prototyping, and environment testing solutions.
+ Develop and review product designs and analyze development and design requirements.
+ Design test fixtures, cables, interconnects with associated documentation.
+ Analyze and specify tolerance in assemblies of precision components.
+ Prepare and present project/technical information to peers, internal management, and customers.
+ Plan and manage tasks effectively.
+ Facilitate documentation and drawings of mechanical designs from inception through release.
+ Design and develop more complex modules and complete products.
+ Specific tasks include enclosure structural design, optical hardware analysis, thermal vibration, other environmental considerations, design verification, prototype build, and production transition to the factory.
Essential Skills
+ Demonstrated experience interacting with various engineering teams, including mechanical engineers, mechanical drafters, electrical engineers, software engineers, and system engineers.
+ Excellent working knowledge with design tools like Solidworks, NX Designer, AutoCAD, or similar, and experience with 3D printing.
+ Demonstrated practical experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis.
+ Ability to translate requirements into physical design constraints.
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
+ U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

+ Hands-on personality who seeks continuous feedback on design performance and acceptance.
+ Detail-oriented and able to excel in a team environment where there may be gaps in information that requires research.
+ Familiarity with aerospace or avionics products.
+ Mechanical test equipment design experience in an optical manufacturing environment.
+ Experience in typical fabrication processes such as CNC, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing.
+ Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and heavy experience in stack-up tolerancing analysis.
Work Environment
The work environment involves working with sophisticated electronic test equipment and mechanical interfaces. The role includes collaborating with various engineering teams and contributing to production and field-testing solutions. The position requires strong organizational and project management skills to plan and manage tasks effectively. The candidate will engage in tasks ranging from initial design to production transition, ensuring all designs are well-documented and modifications are tracked.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
