Avionics Test Engineering offers an array of innovative test equipment solutions for aerospace products and programs, serving both internal and external customers, domestic and international. Responsibilities + Work with our mechanical engineering team to develop new solutions and support ongoing process improvement initiatives for the Wilsonville OR site. + Perform assignments requiring the use and application of moderate to complex mechanical engineering principles and techniques. + Perform mechanical design and analysis to meet system requirements, with familiarity in electronics integration. + Develop and debug skills for the development of mechanical interfaces and components used on multi-rack and optical automated test equipment. + Create and modify documentation to support production with mechanical analysis and troubleshooting. + Contribute to the success of a cross-functional team to develop solutions to production and field-testing problems, including initial design, prototyping, and environment testing solutions. + Develop and review product designs and analyze development and design requirements. + Design test fixtures, cables, interconnects with associated documentation. + Analyze and specify tolerance in assemblies of precision components. + Prepare and present project/technical information to peers, internal management, and customers. + Plan and manage tasks effectively. + Facilitate documentation and drawings of mechanical designs from inception through release. + Design and develop more complex modules and complete products. + Specific tasks include enclosure structural design, optical hardware analysis, thermal vibration, other environmental considerations, design verification, prototype build, and production transition to the factory. Essential Skills + Demonstrated experience interacting with various engineering teams, including mechanical engineers, mechanical drafters, electrical engineers, software engineers, and system engineers. + Excellent working knowledge with design tools like Solidworks, NX Designer, AutoCAD, or similar, and experience with 3D printing. + Demonstrated practical experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis. + Ability to translate requirements into physical design constraints. + Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required. + U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on personality who seeks continuous feedback on design performance and acceptance. + Detail-oriented and able to excel in a team environment where there may be gaps in information that requires research. + Familiarity with aerospace or avionics products. + Mechanical test equipment design experience in an optical manufacturing environment. + Experience in typical fabrication processes such as CNC, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing. + Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and heavy experience in stack-up tolerancing analysis.
