Job Overview

This is a professional position requiring engineering, troubleshooting, and hands-on skills which enable the candidate to conduct a wide variety of test and development projects and to assist on more complex projects.  Candidate is responsible for completing tests for the purpose of evaluating and developing new and existing components and systems in the Peoria Test Laboratory.

Key Job Responsibilities Plan, design, and execute laboratory test programs on new and existing components and systems to quantify and evaluate performance, function, and durability.  Guidance from a senior level Test Engineer is to be expected on some projects. Write clear, comprehensive technical reports to document test results. Assist senior level Test Engineers as assigned with complex tests in the following areas (not limited to these). Hydraulic system and component evaluations Environmental tests (temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, electrical) Structural tests including fixture design and detailing using CAD Strain gauge application and wiring Thermodynamics, heat transfer (HVAC systems) Engine installation certifications Data acquisition and analysis Instrumentation and data acquisition system setup Instrument verification and calibration Work closely with bargaining unit personnel by providing instructions to accomplish Test Laboratory objectives; this includes having a working knowledge of the bargaining unit/company labor agreement. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with one year of test or design experience. Strong hands-on background of working with and troubleshooting machinery. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, structural, and electrical systems and controls. Computer skills for digital data acquisition and analysis, as well as MS Office software. Ability to write clear and concise technical reports. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate good judgment and communication skills. Additional Information
