Test Engineer II

Summary: The Test Engineer II / On-site Contract Lead will provide comprehensive support to the USAMRDC Test Branch, ensuring all developmental testing and evaluation requirements are met. This role involves conducting environmental and performance verification testing, competitive analysis, and participating in Integrated Product Team (IPT) test and evaluation strategies. The Test Engineer II will also support the maintenance and operation of the government-furnished test facility and serve as the on-site contract lead. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Environmental Test and Evaluation: Conduct standard and non-standard MIL-STD-810 environmental testing (e.g., storage temperature, operational temperature, humidity, vibration, salt fog, altitude, shock testing). Evaluate the survivability of medical equipment in military environments. Document test and evaluation results for program decisions. Performance Verification Testing: Assess medical products or prototypes against specific performance specifications. Perform final quality control testing in the last phase of the production line. Document areas of noncompliance. Competitive Analysis: Conduct comparison testing of candidate medical devices. Evaluate devices’ ability to operate in military environments, focusing on factors such as temperature, ruggedness, and weight. Provide evidence and data to support procurement decisions. Integrated Product Team (IPT) Participation: Develop test and evaluation strategies for products under development. Collaborate with IPT members to ensure comprehensive testing and evaluation. Facility Support: Perform and/or coordinate repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, and refurbishment of the test facility. Ensure the test facility is operational and meets all testing requirements. On-site Contract Lead Duties: Serve as the on-site contract lead, managing and supervising contract personnel. Demonstrate the ability to manage personnel resources and prioritize activities to deliver the full range of support identified in the PWS. Work well within a team of technology experts to ensure effective collaboration and project success. The role involves working in a test facility environment. May require handling and testing of various medical devices. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent documentation and reporting abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage personnel resources and prioritize activities. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree. Minimum 5 or more years of test engineering experience. Experience as a Contract Lead with supervisory responsibilities. US Citizens only. Clearance: minimum, a National Agency Check with Local Checks “T3” (NACLC)) Ability to travel - occasional travel may be required to support testing at different locations. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in military medical operations. Experience in developing test criteria for military medical devices. Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards. The salary range for this position is $81,000 to $100,000 annually.
