Job Description
The main function of a Test Engineer III is to research and test the design, functionality, and maintenance of products, equipment, systems, and processes, and to develop quality standards. The role involves ensuring the quality of hardware and software for cutting-edge research devices and research software stacks. Join a world-class team experimenting with bold ideas in areas including novel input, optics, haptics, tracking, displays, computer vision, user experience, audio, and perceptual psychology. Collaborate with expert Interaction Designers, Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Software Engineers to validate the technology that makes immersive XR experiences pervasive and universal. Your work will be used in building research platforms, user research studies, technology demos, and proof of concept projects.
ResponsibilitiesDevise sampling procedures and design forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment, testing measurements, and analytical equipment and facilities.Write training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.Specialize in areas of quality control engineering such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software research and development, and administrative applications.Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.Essential SkillsCreativity, verbal and written communication skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities.Team player and detail-oriented.Basic leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.Previous experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field, such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD).Bachelor's degree in engineering.Experience with Linux, automation, and Android device automation and debugging tools (ADB/Logcat).2+ years of experience with a test framework (PyTest, PyUnit, Django, etc.).Understanding of Linux commands and shell scripting.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with JavaScript, Jest, and/or C++.Experience with data validation (NumPy).Experience with test/device lab maintenance.Work Environment
The position is based in Redmond, WA, working on the Solaris Project, which involves cutting-edge research in AR/VR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00
