Axient is seeking a Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) Test Enginer - to support the 413th FLTS at Eglin AFB, Florida. Do you have the motivation and initiative to support developmental flight testing in a dynamic, high tempo environment? In this role, you will work as a member of an integrated product team to develop and test new capabilities for the US Air Force on current and future sUASs, as well as electric vertical take off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

What you will do... Primary responsibility will be to support sUAS and eVTOL aircraft test, to include remote/optionally piloted aircraft, as well as autonomous aircraft.Participates in program management reviews, test planning meetings, technical interchange meetings, and design reviews with program office, test agency, system developer, using command, and other parties.  Evaluates technical specifications and requirements for completeness, accuracy, and testability.  Provides expert engineering and technical assistance to military agencies for assigned test programs.  Develops test plans and methods of test; defines objectives and criteria; and formulates test scenarios.  Conducts test hazard analyses to identify risk factors and design risk mitigation strategies. Presents hazards and mitigation strategies to flight safety officers. Develops methods of test and detailed test procedures to meet program requirements and objectives. Presents test strategy, methods, and objectives to senior leaders to gain approval for test execution on military aircraft.  Determines and coordinates the resources needed to accomplish test execution and manages those resources.  Directs a multi-discipline technical team to accomplish developmental tests for new and modified aircraft and systems.  Interfaces with test engineers, data analysts, instrumentation engineers, operations schedulers, and logisticians to coordinate and execute ground and flight tests.Advises military decision makers on the progress of developmental systems.Writes technical reports to document test activities and results, system deficiencies, and the ability of test systems to meet performance requirements.  Travels to offsite locations as required.  Travel will be less than 10% of effort.Tasks of flying on aircraft, performing sUAS operator duties, and sUAS maintenance are not part of this position. Accomplish other tasks as assigned by Task Lead, in accordance with the current Performance Work Statement. Skills you will need... This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable technical discipline and 3 years of related experience.  The individual in this position works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. Must be proficient in test methodologies to include test planning, test execution, data analysis, and final report preparation.  Must be familiar with acquisitions and test management processes including coordinating and interfacing with systems program offices.  Must be able to work on and around aircraft during ground and flight test operations. 

Desired Experience:

Test experience with sUAS aircraft is highly desired.Test experience on remotely/optionally piloted and autonomous aircraft is desired.Instructor or Evaluator experience on fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and/or sUAS aircraft is desired.Eglin Range familiarity is highly desired.Familiarity with Special Tactics and/or Irregular Warfare is desired.Program Management background is highly desired.

Security Clearance Requirement: 

Must have an active or current DoD security clearance at the Secret level.  *Eligibility for cleared access in this instance requires US citizenship.
