**Description**
**SAIC** is seeking an organized and motivated **Test Equipment Lead Mechanical Engineer** to join our team in **Middletown, RI** . This position offers the opportunity for growth as our company continues to expand into new and exciting market segments. . The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers and support technicians to bring projects from early concept and design phases through prototype fabrication, system integration, acceptance testing, and production.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead and mentor a team of engineers and support technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
+ Oversee the development, modernization, and updating of test and support equipment for both production and research and development (R&D) purposes.
+ Resolve obsolescence issues and enable efficient manufacturing of complex and robust electromechanical systems.
+ Engage in hands-on work with projects as needed, ensuring successful integration and testing of components.
+ Excel at multiple concurrent engineering challenges and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in office and on-site environments.
**Qualifications**
**Required Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree with nine (9) years or more of experience; Master’s degree with seven (7) years or more of experience.
+ Extensive knowledge of test methodologies for industrial equipment such as torpedo propulsion, hydraulic systems, and pumps.
+ Proficiency in CAD software for developing 3D models and 2D drawings, preferably SolidWorks.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead a small team while contributing technically.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in an unsupervised, self-directed manner.
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools and engineering change management processes.
+ Proficiency in creating fabrication drawings, including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Knowledge of best design practices (DFM, Six Sigma) to prevent fabrication issues.
+ Ability to quickly achieve a systems-level understanding of various test equipment products.
+ Strong technical writing skills for producing test documentation.
+ Experience executing projects using formal project management or systems engineering practices that comply with NAVSEA Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) processes.
+ Background in torpedo engineering, including design or test equipment expertise.
+ Already holds active SECRET clearance.
**Clearance:**
+ Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.
