Job Description
We are seeking a Test Technician to support our Test Department with the development of Engineered to Order (ETO) products. This role involves testing and validating new products, including modifications of standard products, new custom designs, and the application of standard products. The primary focus will be on Industrial and Alternative Energy products, which include solutions in the Photovoltaic, Energy Storage, BOS Cabling Solutions, Power Transmission and Distribution, Modular and Circular Connector, and Automated Charging Markets.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and maintain fixtures, automation, and test setups.Operate and maintain automation and custom test programming for equipment interaction using PLCs and/or LabVIEW.Provide feedback to engineering regarding mechanical and electrical design feedback, optimization, and end-user safety.Explain technical processes and concepts to colleagues.Follow work instructions to perform lab equipment calibration and routine maintenance.Communicate with the technical staff, handle questions promptly, and explain decisions concisely.Operate tests, build and set up test setups, and document results.Perform accelerated aging and thermal testing.Essential SkillsExperience in assembly or prototype work.Strong hands-on skills and ability to work independently.Strong electrical skills and attention to detail.Ability to read and understand international standards, test protocols, manuals, blueprints, and drawings.Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical skills to solve problems and develop new ideas and solutions.Ability to communicate across multiple channels with local and international R&D and field engineering teams.Experience in the test field and general measurement technology.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve technical-related issues.Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).Ability to work under limited supervision.Additional Skills & QualificationsAA degree in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience in industry or military training desired.2-4 years of experience in an Engineering lab or electro-mechanical backfground.Electrical connector or mechanical design experience preferred.PLC/LabVIEW and automation experience preferred.IPC/WHMA-A-620C Certification preferred.Work Environment
The company has just under 100 employees, with about 50 on site in Windsor. The other half are field sales engineers who are degreed engineers working across North America. The engineering department consists of 14 people. Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5pm, and Friday from 8am to 2pm, with no more than 40 hours per week. Travel to Switzerland may be required once or twice a year.
