Role Definition

As a Test/Validation Engineer you will be partnering with Drivetrain design and controls teams to identify, evaluate, and validate new products, processes, or systems. This position is responsible for the validation and development of mechanical drivetrain systems as part of new product development programs or continuous product improvement projects.  You will plan and execute laboratory tests, analyze data, make recommendations, and document your findings. You will manage projects, utilizing the support staff in the lab. You will identify relationships and interactions between various test parameters while conducting thorough engineering analyses on test units. You will find product weakness and recommend appropriate analyses to address the findings. Your decisions have significant impact on Caterpillar drivetrain performance, durability, reliability, quality, and product development schedules.

What You Will Do

Collaborating with product design and controls team to define validation requirements

Preparing test units for lab testing

Performing lab tests to validate components from a performance and product quality perspective

Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues

Analyzing test data

Performing inspections and failure analysis of test units

Communicating results and conclusions

Documenting test results in technical reports

Completing projects on time and on cost

Continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology

Contributing to shortening the product development cycle with more efficient use of resources​

Degree Requirement

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum or equivalent experience desired.

What you must have (Skills)

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
