We are seeking a skilled Textile Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting the vision, mission, and guiding principles of our company while adhering to applicable safety, health, and environmental rules. You will conduct research and testing to design, develop, and optimize new and existing textile materials and products. Additionally, you will coordinate R&D efforts with various departments and maintain updates on project statuses using approved project management tools.
Responsibilities
+ Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
+ Observe applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines while performing procedures.
+ Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to the position.
+ Adhere to company operating procedures, benefit rules, employment policies, and safety policies.
+ Conduct research and testing to design and develop new textile materials and products.
+ Optimize existing textile materials and products as approved and prioritized by the Head of R&D, Fabric and Monolithic Belts.
+ Research and study textile materials, including fibers, yarn, and fabrics, to design quality products and determine new production techniques.
+ Coordinate R&D efforts with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance regarding product and fabric feasibility and time frames for product development.
+ Maintain updates on project status utilizing approved project management tools.
+ Choose and implement analysis and testing techniques used in the test characterization of materials.
+ Coordinate physical testing and evaluation of raw materials and finished products to establish comprehensive new product specifications.
+ Maintain current product specifications.
+ Evaluate competitors’ products and materials, including patent information, to establish benchmarks for new products.
+ Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems and daily operating variances.
+ Maintain current knowledge on possible 'Green' materials, processes, and equipment possibilities and incorporate where feasible.
+ Train managers and associates on new products, including raw materials, manufacturing procedures, product specifications and properties, and applications related characteristics.
+ Adopt and utilize ISO 9000 procedures.
+ Direct involvement and travel to existing and potential customers for the design of new products.
+ Interact with suppliers, consultants, customers, and universities to support duties.
+ Collaborate with other members of R&D personnel worldwide.
+ Responsible for product and material certifications/approvals by appropriate agencies when required: NSF, USDA, USDA Dairy, EU, REACH.
+ Perform any other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ MSc Degree in Textile Engineering
+ Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in a related field
+ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in analytical, testing, and characterization techniques of polymeric and textile materials
+ Experience with design and production of woven, nonwoven, and knitted fabrics
+ Experience with plastics and rubber chemistry
+ Project management experience in R&D/product development
+ Ability to interface with manufacturing, marketing, quality assurance, and customers
+ Conversant with proposal development
+ Ability to develop analytical and/or evaluative tools for research
+ Strong analytical skills
+ Excellent verbal, technical writing, and general presentation skills
+ Experience with FDA/USDA, Underwriters Laboratories, and other related materials standards
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Read, write, and comprehend English
Work Environment
The physical demands of this job include frequent talking and hearing, standing and walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. You must be able to frequently lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
