Job Title: Textile Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Textile Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will conduct research and testing to design and develop new textile materials and products, while also optimizing existing ones. This role involves coordinating R&D efforts with various departments, implementing analysis and testing techniques, and maintaining current knowledge on green materials and processes.

ResponsibilitiesSupport the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.Observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines, using appropriate personal protective equipment.Attend and participate in relevant training opportunities and seminars.Adhere to company operating procedures, benefit rules, employment policies, and safety policies.Conduct research and testing to design and develop new textile materials and products.Optimize existing textile materials and products as approved by the Head of R&D.Research and study textile materials, including fibers, yarn, and fabrics, to design quality products and determine new production techniques.Coordinate R&D efforts with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance regarding product and fabric feasibility and time frames for product development.Maintain updates on project status using approved project management tools.Choose and implement analysis and testing techniques for the characterization of materials.Coordinate physical testing and evaluation of raw materials and finished products to establish and maintain product specifications.Evaluate competitors’ products and materials to establish benchmarks for new products.Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems and daily operating variances.Maintain knowledge on green materials, processes, and equipment possibilities, and incorporate them where feasible.Train managers and associates on new products, including raw materials, manufacturing procedures, product specifications, and properties.Adopt and utilize ISO 9000 procedures.Travel to existing and potential customers to design new products.Interact with suppliers, consultants, customers, and universities to support R&D duties.Collaborate with other R&D personnel worldwide.Obtain product and material certifications/approvals from appropriate agencies (e.g., NSF, USDA, USDA Dairy, EU, REACH).Perform any other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsMSc Degree in Textile EngineeringMinimum 3-5 years manufacturing experience in a related fieldMinimum 3-5 years experience in analytical, testing, and characterization techniques of polymeric and textile materialsExperience with the design and production of woven, nonwoven, and knitted fabricsExperience with plastics and rubber chemistryProject management experience in R&D/product developmentAbility to interface with manufacturing, marketing, quality assurance, and customersConversant with proposal developmentAnalytical skillsExcellent verbal, technical writing, and general presentation skillsExperience with FDA/USDA, Underwriters Laboratories, and other related materials standardsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to read, write, and comprehend EnglishAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in materials engineeringKnowledge of manufacturing processes, textile manufacturing, and analytical testingUnderstanding of kitting, materials science, decision-making, tooling, and machine designFamiliarity with polymer and textile technologiesWork Environment

The physical demands for this role include frequent talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The role also requires the ability to frequently lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required to perform the job. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
