Position Purpose

The Textile Operations Coordinator manages the operations pertaining to linen processing and production for Operations area within the Textile Services Department. Maintains the highest possible quality, processing, production, sanitation, and safety standards in overseeing of the Operations area. This includes the acquisition of supplies/textiles, processing of reusable textiles, and supervising associates in providing service within the MMC-NI network and for contract accounts. Provides mechanical and troubleshooting support with the laundry equipment and facility maintenance.

What will do

Plans and manages an efficient Operations department relating to linen processing and production in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.

Carries out employee interview, selection, evaluation, development/training, counseling, discipline, and related supervisory procedures as required.
Helps establish and maintain effective/current Textile Services policies and procedures.

Maintains adequate staffing and ensures that work is assigned for completion of daily requirements.

Keeps appropriate Textile Services records in accordance with hospital, departmental, and contractual policies and procedures.

Maintains a safe working environment that meets department, hospital, TJC, OSHA, State, and other regulatory agencies’ standards.

Assists with the managing of the expenses, especially as it relates to productivity, FTEs, and by initiating cost containment with regard to the sourcing/ordering of supplies/linens.

Oversees the facility cleaning program and related work orders.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Associates degree required with an interest in continuing education or 3+ years' experience in supervision within a production/manufacturing environment in lieu of.

Maintains an interest in participating in classes/seminars offered by internal/external sources.

Experience

Must have demonstrated competence in managing/supervising within a manufacturing, commercial laundry, or production type of environment required, minimum of 3 years' experience required.

Must have demonstrated competence with operating computers in a windows based platform required.

Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes

Demonstrated ability to manage/supervise associates.

Detail oriented with good organizational and communication skills.

An aptitude for record keeping and report writing.

Considerable independent judgment is required.

Must be dependable and be able to work flexible hours.

Must be proficient in the use of MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint).

Must have good mechanical ability and equipment troubleshooting skills.

Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license.
