Theatrical Costume DesignerNew York City based College/ Conservatory looking for a Theatrical Costume Designer for upcoming projects. Seeking a Theatrical Costume Designer with strong sewing, communication, and organizational skills. Primary Responsibilities: Must design and build/implement costumes for the Graduation PerformancesMust be able to coordinate needs of the show while staying within the parameters of the shop and school policiesMust be able to meet and complete job tasks in a timely manner.Must be able to work collaboratively with the production team, shop personnel and students.Must have strong communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor with students and production staff.Must know how to work within a budget and quick timelines.Other duties as assigned Qualifications:Must have access to Zoom and know how to use Office Suite to communicate with the creative team. Must have previous experience designing and building costumes for theatre.Must have a base knowledge of fashion history, and period styles. Ability to adapt to changing conditions or work assignments.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Knowledge and ability to combine design elements of color and fabric textures to create fashion statements in a performance.Ability to sew, alter, and dye costumes.Familiarity with applicable safety codes and practices.
