JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Occupational Therapy Helpant helps with rehabilitative activities for patients who may have developmental, physical and emotional impairments. This position performs occupational therapy treatments to help with restoring autonomous functioning and/or minimizing debilitation.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nProvides occupational therapy treatments, under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, to assist in developing, improving and restoring autonomous functioning and\\or minimizing debilitation.\nCommunicates with the supervising therapist regarding patient progress or needs for updating plan of care.\nEstablishes rapport with the patient in a professional manner.\nProvides necessary equipment and\\or instruction to patient and\\or family members prior to patient's discharge. Performs splinting application and education in use.\nPrepares comprehensive, concise and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress. Supervises ancillary staff and students, when appropriate and as assigned. Effectively communicates treatment information to ancillary staff.\nParticipates in interdisciplinary team meetings to maintain awareness of patient status.\nFulfills continuing education and\\or certification requirements to maintain required qualifications. Takes responsibility to know and complete professional and technical requirements and give documentation on such requirements.\nPresents educational programs when requested.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nMust be physically capable of prolonged being upright, moving, pushing and holding.\nGood communications skills, both verbally and in writing.\nGood problem-solving skills.\nGood computer skills.\nMust be able to maintain confidentiality about patient.\nMust have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families and other employees at all levels.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

- EDUCATION - Associate's

- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
       Occupational Ther Asst (OTA)

       Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
