Title:Therapy Aide/Fire Safety Engineer F/T & P/T Overnights ID:5835-1145AH Department:TAFSE Location:Westhampton Beach Description MAIN FUNCTION: + All Therapy Aides have a responsibility for the welfare of the clients and the protection and security of all Seafield Center property. + User role(s) information systems access as assigned, where applicable ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Check all lounge areas and recreation area, coffee room area, common rooms, including dinning hall and lecture hall to make sure there is no unauthorized person in those areas during the Clinical Program time. + This person shall also be made fully aware of all fire systems and the reporting techniques involved in altering any smoke or fire situations. + Therapy Aide will also be familiar with the emergency procedure log, which shall be kept in the rehabilitation center reception area and shall know were to locate all emergency numbers. + This person shall also be familiar with and be able to contact local police, fire and emergency equipment. + All Therapy Aides have a responsibility for the welfare of the clients and the protection of all Seafield Center property. + Transport or accompany clients as necessary to outside appointments. + Ensure that all doors, entrances and exits are properly lighted by exit signs and also secured and locked upon the beginning of their shift. + Check all lounge areas and recreation area, coffee room area, common rooms, including dinning hall and lecture hall to make sure there is no unauthorized person in those areas during the hours of midnight to 8:00 am. It is, however, important that the Therapy Aide know that guests should not be out of their rooms except in emergency or crisis situation, between the hours of midnight and 6:00 am. + Therapy Aide is responsible to check the security of the doors and passageway between the clinical wing and the administration offices and the interior floor and exterior grounds. + To assist Clinical and Medical departments with client discharges + Therapy Aide shall remain awake at all times during their shift and shall perform minimal maintenance tasks if requested. + Carrying out of all valid transportation requests on a timely and reliable basis. + Running miscellaneous errands, making deliveries as directed. + Driving cautiously in a safe manner at all times. + Have a working knowledge of the operation of security camera system. + Know how to access & change locks on client safes. + Perform duties as assigned. Hall and Room Monitoring: + Conduct a thorough room-to-room search five minutes after group or lecture begins for any clients who have not reached their proper location. Walk the clients to their assigned area. + Ensure no one is out of his or her group unless a pass is shown and signed by a staff member. + Assist with searching premises with the drug dog looking for any contraband. + See that all visitors have signed in at the Front Desk and are not wandering the premises. + Perform room searches when directed. + Turn on pay phones as scheduled. Medical Office: + Communicate with other staff members concerning client’s behavior. + Maintain a secure atmosphere for all clients and staff. + Assist in 1:1 observations when needed. + Monitor medication lines. + Assist Medical department as needed + Performs other duties as assigned. COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS: + Timely Rounds & Bed Checks + Knowledge of Fire & Reporting Techniques + Cooperation & Ability to Complete Minimal Maintenance Tasks + Generator Operations + Responsibility for Welfare of Clients & the Protection of Seafield Property + Search clients when necessary + Knowledge of and instruction to new clients on basic policies and rules. + Knowledge of and instruction to new clients on proper handwashing technique. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: + Minimum two years’ experience in security field, preferably in a rehabilitation environment; attendance in a 12-step recovery program preferred. High school graduate; CPR certified; professional in behavior and possess good personal hygiene. PHYSICAL DEMANDS + The physical demands described here are representative of those functions that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, bend, push, pull, lift, kneel, reach, stoop, crawl and climb stairs. This position is very active and requires standing and walking all day. + The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp or feel and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. + The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and makes general observations. + The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. $17.00-$18.00
