Therapy Assistant-Provisional

 

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant clinical specialist has taken increased initiative to assist department in maintaining high quality clinical practice with a particular focus on a specialized area or areas. Teaching duties include training and development of staff competencies related to those specialized areas. Job Responsibilities

Review physician’s referral, patient medication list, allergies and medical and surgical history. Delivers service in a timely to minimize patient wait time and optimize care.

 Education/Experience

Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy Assistants program. Minimum work experience: 5 years in direct patient care experience with post graduate preparation, or specialty certification, or completion of significant continuing education leading to clinical competence in one or more areas: acute care, orthopedics, geriatrics, lymphedema, aquatic therapy, neurology, pediatrics, oncology or participation in the clinical education program. License/Registration/Certification: Indiana Licensure, CPR certification current, BLT Course C (Basic Life Support). Presentation to supervisor of a portfolio meeting the above requirements. These credentials will be maintained each year the COTA maintains this position. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with frequent interruption. Must demonstrate self-assessment, initiation, and the ability to work collaboratively on a team. Must have a customer service orientation and ability to communicate and listen effectively.
