KBR is seeking a THERMAL ANALYST ENGINEER to support our SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBR’s Science and Space division on the xEVAS contract.

The THERMAL ANALYST ENGINEER will be part of the team that supports the Space Suit Division at KBR on the xEVAS contract. The Thermal Analysis Engineer will have a strong background in thermal analysis in the aerospace industry and will lead complex engineering projects, perform advanced simulations, and ensure the structural integrity and thermal performance of components and systems for low Earth orbit and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform detailed thermal analyses to evaluate heat transfer, thermal loads, and temperature distributions within aerospace systems.

· Design and implement thermal management solutions to ensure optimal performance and safety under extreme conditions.

· Analyze and implement trade-offs while contributing to the thermal solution of product design from conceptualization to production.

· Lead engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring that dynamic and thermal considerations are integrated into all phases

· Guide products through environmental aspects of qualification, including writing test procedures, designing test fixtures, assisting with testing, and writing qualification reports.

· Prepare and present designs at various design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint.

· Produce other required design documentation.

· Assist in the development of requirements for hardware.

· Ensure designs satisfy requirements and demonstrate performance in a thorough verification and validation program.

· Support production of hardware, evaluate anomalies and incorporate corrective actions.

· Perform trade studies for technology development.

· Analyze data and make recommendations for improvement.

· Understand nominal and off-nominal operations for a technical system and its interaction(s) with other systems.

· Manage multiple issues at one time and develop an integrated solution.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering, or a related field.

· Years of Experience: This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience with an emphasis on thermal analysis.

· This position requires you to work onsite in Houston, Texas near the Johnson Space Center (77058).

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

· Ability to effectively communicate analysis results and potential design improvements to both engineers and non-engineers.

· In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theory and materials.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Precision and attention to detail to produce accurate and error-free design documentation.

· Strong knowledge of FEA/CFD theory and analysis tools related to heat transfer, including knowledge of thermal analysis software (e.g., FloTherm).

· Strong technical background and 3D/2D drawing ability in PTC Creo, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, etc.

· Familiarity with thermal test equipment.

· Experience with aerospace standards.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Hands-on familiarity with production grade manufacturing aerospace hardware.

· Familiar with AS9100 practices.

· Experience in a Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering environment.

· Experience correlating analysis predictions with test data.

· Experience with Metman Thermal Analysis tool.

· Experience with Data Acquisition Systems

WORK LOCATION

Webster, TX

This position is located onsite at customer facility.
