Thermal Design Engineer
**Summary:** At Reality Labs we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing systems for VR, AR, Smart Glasses, Wearables, or New Technology Initiatives. You will be part of a team exploring and developing consumer electronics products over the full lifecycle, from prototypes to mass-production. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration in domains inside and outside thermal engineering. This role intersects many disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. Proven experience in solving complex problems, embracing ambiguity, and proactively identifying solutions while working with a wider team is essential. **Required Skills:** Thermal Design Engineer Responsibilities: 1. Support the design and development and optimization of part, sub-system, and system level design through collaboration with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software. 2. Distill complex designs to simplified analytical models using a programming / scripting language such as MatLab, Python, or Julia. 3. Develop part and sub-system thermal models using CFD and CAD tools. 4. Support sub-system and system-level thermal verification through prototype testing. 5. Support the development of thermal control systems while building prototypes to test on physical HW. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 6. 3+ years industry experience in thermal design, modeling / analysis, or related field 7. Fundamentals in heat transfer, thermal/fluid sciences, or related physics. 8. Background in modeling using CAD and CFD tools, such as FloEFD or similar. 9. Experience in empirical testing and model correlation 10. Experience in some programming with a scripting language such as MatLab, Python, or Julia, to support development of models and automation tools. **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 11. Experience developing analytical, physics-based thermal models. 12. Knowledge and applied applications in statistical analysis to gain insights in the performance of large numbers of devices. 13. Familiar with control theory. 14. Experienced in developing consumer-electronics devices or similar field 15. Familiar with the latest state-of-the art in thermal materials, such as graphite spreaders, aerogels, thermal interface materials, heatpipes, vapor-chambers, and fans. **Public Compensation:** $111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits **Industry:** Internet **Equal Opportunity:** Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
