Thermal Process Technician

Basic Qualifications:

Associate degree in an engineering discipline OR experience in as follows:  5 years' experience in applicable related responsibilities in a manufacturing environment ​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Job entails gathering data on a daily basis and helping to analyze this data to ensure fixed process control and to drive continuous improvement efforts across all of the thermal processes here in Whitehall! Must be able to work with computers and enjoy tackling tough problems with analytics and hands-on work with the kilns.

Help to ensure fixed process control on all thermal processes. Conduct daily walks (“rounds”) inspecting kilns and associated components. Help to ensure procedures are being followed and key output metrics are within specification limits. Gather kiln data (download, print, etc.) for analysis from each piece of equipment. Inspect heat work (TempCHEK and TempTAB) data on a routine basis. Download test bar data for analysis – looking for trends in shrink measurements. Use Microsoft Excel and Minitab software to analyze all thermal processing data to ensure statistical process control and look for trends in out of control conditions. Assist in the analysis of thermal uniformity data from prebake ovens and kilns. Be an individual contributor on problem solving efforts across all thermal processes. Contribute continuous improvement ideas for thermal processing of ceramic cores. Understand the mechanics and design of periodic and tunnel kiln equipment and assist in problem solving issues associated with equipment. Follow documented Activity Instructions and procedures to help execute reaction plans and mitigate risk following shutdowns on kiln equipment. Assist in running trials on kilns to drive continuous improvement efforts across all thermal processes.
