A Thermal Systems Engineer (TSE) working on powertrain cooling projects conducts thermal development via CAE or physical test to optimize the vehicle's front-end airflow to support the primary cooling pack (condenser, radiator, and other heat exchangers) to deliver required fluid temperatures (Coolant, transmission fluid, engine oil, etc.). A TSE engineer also works on vehicle heat management and conducts engine compartment and under-vehicle thermal mapping to ensure all vehicle components stay at or below their required temperature limits. TSE Engineers have a lot of interfaces with various vehicle systems and system engineers to ensure the thermal properties of the vehicle's components are well understood to support accurate thermal mapping & issue identification.
