The Welder II joins, fabricates, and repairs metals and other materials by applying appropriate welding techniques. They are responsible for performing Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) on a diversified line of products which include close tolerance, large and small weldments in accordance with the appropriate (AWS) welding codes and symbols.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform welding activities with minimum instructions and supervision.
+ Interpret blueprints, manufacturing drawings, and written work instructions, as well as read and interpret AWS welding symbols.
+ Set up welding equipment in accordance with the appropriate weld process specifications (WPS).
+ Complete weldments to the applied AWS welding code and blueprint requirements.
+ Position weldment details in location using fixtures, jigs, tape measure, square, rule, and caliper to meet blueprint, manufacturing drawings, and quality requirements.
+ Utilize material handling equipment in conjunction with the welding task.
+ Perform minor maintenance on job-related equipment.
+ Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment.
+ Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
+ Perform other duties as required.
+ Attendance is an essential job function.
**Essential Skills**
+ Strong understanding of TIG / MIG welding procedures and processes.
+ Experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AWS welding symbols.
+ Ability to perform welds that pass a visual inspection and destructive test.
+ Ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, squares, rulers, and dial calipers).
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Basic math skills; must be able to perform conversions and basic calculations.
+ Knowledge of welding machines and set up.
+ Ability to operate hand/air tools and electric grinders.
+ High School diploma or equivalent experience.
+ Two-year vocational welding program or equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of experience.

**Work Environment**
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical demands include exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Prolonged standing and bending intermittently during work hours, with the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, push, pull, and grasp. The worker has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. May involve exposure to noise hazard area. Shift is from 6 am to 2:30 pm plus any necessary overtime.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manor, Texas.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20
