Purpose
The Director, US Third Party Risk Management will ensure integrated and comprehensive business controls are in place to reinforce a strong third party risk and control culture in the US. The incumbent will also ensure best practices are used, leveraging lessons learned across GBM and applying them address issues, which may be more systemic.
What You’ll Do
TPRM - BAU:
TPRM - Remediation:
Lead the 1st line TPRM change initiatives by representing GBM and identifying changes required to the Global TPRM Program, Policy, and Target Operating Model. Identify opportunities for GBM to improve the effectiveness of controls regarding third-party risks.
TPRM - Streamline:
Identify and address opportunities for improving controls and process efficiencies. Develop and implement new procedures and practices that are inclusive of GBM’s global footprint by maintaining global standards and supplementing with local requirements. Manage and deliver ad-hoc requests and special projects. Influence changes, set expectations, and hold accountable for plans.
Leadership:
Develop and motivate the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and communicating vision, values, and business strategy. Provide leadership and direction to ensure the team meets its objectives and delivers high-quality outcomes. Promote cross-functional collaboration and enhance relationships with the 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD), Procurement, and other stakeholders. Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team. This includes managing succession and development planning.
Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business partners, regulators, and senior management. Act as a liaison to ensure alignment and effective communication between all parties involved in third-party risk management.
Regulatory Engagement:
Engage with regulators to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and standards. Proactively address regulatory inquiries and provide comprehensive responses to ensure transparency and trust.
Governance, Management Reporting, and Committees:
Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure effective oversight of third-party risk management activities. Prepare and present management reports to senior leadership and relevant committees, highlighting key risks, issues, and performance metrics. Participate in and contribute to relevant committees and working groups to ensure alignment and integration of third-party risk management practices across the organization.
Other:
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations, ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations regarding operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk. This includes responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
What You’ll Bring
Education: University Degree, MBA, CFA, or 15+ years of experience in capital markets and operational risk processes. Risk Management: Strong knowledge of internal controls and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements with effective engagement with regulators. Experience in risk management frameworks, management reporting, and committee participation. Leadership: Proven ability to build strong relationships with business partners, regulators, and senior management. Demonstrates maturity, credibility, and sound judgment in dealing with senior management. Promotes cross-functional collaboration and enhances relationships with stakeholders, including 2LOD and Procurement. Ability to work independently and make informed decisions. Change Management: Skills in leading change initiatives, influencing changes, setting expectations, and accountability. Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
