Title: Manager Learning Design

 

 

Position Summary

The Manager Learning Design is responsible for leading a team that designs and develops learning programs that support the needs of JetBlue crewmembers and business partners. These learning programs will meet regulatory requirements where applicable and could include the design and development of Instructor-led training, eLearning, video, and other instructional solutions for JetBlue. The Manager helps guide the learning strategy for JetBlue University to ensure effective and efficient programs, including technology-based solutions, social learning, and serving as a liaison to the field of adult and corporate learning and a Champion for innovation in the learning space.

 

Essential Responsibilities

· Develop and execute the short- and long-term vision and goals for all functions of learning design, including Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) compliance and execution, end-to-end courseware development (Instructor led and eLearning), and the continuous design and implementation of technology-based solutions for JetBlue University

· Manage the simultaneous execution of multiple programs (both regulatory and non-regulatory), focusing on compliance, quality, scope, and on-time delivery of end-to-end learning solutions

· Support the central intake of training requests to JetBlue University, including conducting performance consultations and training needs analyses, proposing training solutions, and determining scope of projects

· Establish and implement processes and standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality throughout the training development process

· Partner with the Learning Analytics team to make recommendations for program improvements

· Manage learning design resource planning to optimize utilization metrics and project development costs

· Work with the other JetBlue University (JBU) Managers to ensure consistency among JBU programs, processes, and products, and ensures that the programs support regulatory requirements and corporate goals

· Support other divisions of JetBlue University and internal customers by collecting feedback and recommending solutions

· Manage all details associated with successfully developing and implementing learning programs

· Provide vision and leadership for the ongoing management of continuous education courses including online and classroom offerings

· Partner with Business Unit Leaders to manage the development and implementation of quality learning programs

· Partner with JetBlue University colleges through needs assessments and consulting to determine eLearning requirements

· Provide support to large-scale learning technology projects

· Market and communicate services provided by Learning Design

· Collaborate with other JetBlue Airways departments on educational related projects

· Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievement

· Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Instructional Design, or related discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience

· Five (5) years’ experience with instructional design, adult learning principles, and curriculum/training development

· Four (4) years’ experience leading teams and managing projects with multiple stakeholders

· Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational and project management skills

· Knowledgeable in adult learning, professional development, instructional design, curriculum development

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Possess advanced professional development, coaching, and counseling skills

· Excellent facilitation and presentation skills

· Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)

· Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

· Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

· Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

· Master’s Degree or certification in Instructional Design

· One (1) year of customer service experience

· Experience with a Part 121 air carrier

· Proven industry awareness and strong understanding of FAA regulations, particularly Part 121 Flight, Inflight, and Dispatch Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)

· Career development and succession planning experience

· Thought leader in learning development strategies

 

Crewmember Expectations

· Regular attendance and punctuality

· Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

· Able to maintain a professional appearance

· When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

· Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

· Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

· Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

· Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

· Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

· Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
