JOB SUMMARY

A receiving clerk is responsible for unloading incoming shipments, verifying the contents against purchase orders and packing slips, inspecting items for damage, accurately recording received goods in inventory systems, and storing them in designated warehouse areas, ensuring the smooth flow of stock while maintaining accurate inventory records. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Inventory updates: Entering received items into the inventory management system, updating stock levels.  Sorting and labeling: Sorting items based on product type and labeling them for proper storage.  Stock placement: Storing received items in designated warehouse locations.  Handling returns: Processing returned items, verifying reasons for return, and updating inventory accordingly.  Maintaining records: Keeping accurate records of received shipments, including dates, quantities, and vendor information.  Communication with vendors: Contacting vendors to resolve discrepancies or address issues with deliveries.  Physical tasks: Lifting and moving boxes, pallets, or other materials as needed.  Unloading deliveries: Receiving and unloading incoming shipments from trucks or delivery services.  Verification against documents: Checking received items against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy.  Inspection for damage: Examining goods for any signs of damage or discrepancies and reporting issues to appropriate parties.  Other duties as needed QUALIFICATIONS Basic math skills: Calculating quantities and performing inventory checks Organizational skills: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, effectively managing inventory Computer literacy: Proficiency in inventory management systems and data entry Physical stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy items Communication skills: Effective communication with vendors and internal departments  Attention to detail: Accurately verifying quantities and identifying discrepancies PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires frequent walking, carrying, reaching, standing, and stooping.
