Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy for JetBlue Travel Products (JTP) is responsible for driving revenue growth and commercial excellence across multiple booking platforms and various product lines including flight, hotel, cruise, car rental and insurance. This strategic role encompasses yield management, promotional strategy, merchandising, internal pricing, and insights.

 

The Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy will work closely with the JTP Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Commercial teams to develop and execute innovative strategies that optimize revenue growth. This leader will bring an innovative, agile approach to identifying micro and macro growth strategies and implementing initiatives that exceed revenue and profitability targets.

 

Essential Responsibilities

● Lead the formulation and execution of commercial strategy across all JTP offerings, focusing on pricing, promotions, partnerships, and merchandising to align with overall business objectives.

● Maximize profitability across bundled packages (e.g., flights + hotels) and standalone products through yield management, inventory management, and price elasticity management. Collaborate with the Marketing team to concept and implement customer-focused promotional strategies that drive demand, enhance sales, and align with brand objectives.

● Analyze and optimize product merchandising across sales channels, ensuring alignment with revenue and customer satisfaction goals.

● Manage pricing strategy including airfare for vacation bundles and loyalty program exchange rates. Collaborate on key business partnerships, such as co-brand credit cards.

● Leverage advanced data analytics to generate actionable insights that will inform strategic decision-making.

● Conduct ongoing market analyses and testing to ensure JTP’s offerings are positioned effectively to maintain a leading edge in the travel industry.

● Partner with cross-functional teams, including, Marketing, JetBlue Network Planning, and Loyalty teams, to align around strategic imperatives.

● Guide the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, professional growth, and goal achievement.

● Lead bi-annual commercial planning process. Design workshops that evaluate opportunities and prioritize initiatives to maximize revenue.

● Structure deal terms with suppliers, partners and customers to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

● Lead monthly meetings with stakeholders to review progress on revenue and strategic goals.

● Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.

● Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience.

● Five (5) years of analytical quantitative experience.

● At least five (5) years in a manager role.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as quantitative critical thinking skills.

● Demonstrate analytical reasoning with the ability to tackle complex problems.

● Strong attention to detail.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word.

● Knowledge of Google suite products.

● Ability to work cross-functionally, collaboratively and under pressure.

● Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).

● Must pass a ten (10) year background check.

● Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.

● Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

● Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or a related field.

● Five (5) years of relevant experience in commercial, pricing, finance, business strategy or a similar analytical field.

● Strong financial and analytical background with the ability to develop complex models and profitable strategies.

● Three (3) years of revenue management experience and analytical tools.

● Experience in the travel and tourism industry.

● Proficiency in SQL and other database tools.

 

Crewmember Expectations

● Regular attendance and punctuality.

● Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice.

● Able to maintain a professional appearance.

● When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.

● The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.
