Job Description
The Tool & Die Maker Apprentice assists and trains under the Tool & Die Maker in various functions as needed. This role involves reading blueprints, specifications, and CAD files to create precision tools and metal forms. The position requires a combination of manual and CNC machine tools operation, testing, and adjustment of parts to ensure they meet specifications.
ResponsibilitiesRead blueprints, sketches, specifications, or CAD files for making tools and dies.Compute and verify dimensions, size, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces.Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional, manual, and CNC machine tools.File, grind, and adjust parts so they fit together properly.Test completed tools and dies to ensure they meet specifications.Smooth and polish surfaces of tools and dies.Construct precision tools or metal forms (dies) used to cut, shape, and form metal and other materials.Produce jigs and fixtures, gauges, and other measuring devices.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Two-year technical school degree or five years of related experience.Analytical skills to understand technical blueprints, models, and specifications for mold making.Experience with CAD and CNC machine tools.Ability to operate milling machines, lathes, grinders, injection mold design fabrication, and other machine tools.Understanding of metalworking and injection molding processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in manual machining and die repair.Experience with micrometers and other measuring tools.Troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of tooling, drill press, and blueprint interpretation.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Candidates will work in a manufacturing plant that can be loud or hot at times. The facility is climate-controlled, although certain machines can increase the temperature. The environment is well-organized and easy to navigate. Candidates will also spend time working at a desk in an office-like space. Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as the ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $49920.00/yr.

o Vacation Accrual (240 hrs. max) based on tenure with company: 2 weeks = 1-5 yrs. of service, 3 weeks = 6-10yrs, 4 weeks = 11-19yrs, 5 weeks = 20-29yrs.
o Sick leave - 4.20hrs/month
o Insurance (all company paid): short and long term disability, Life ($25k) (Extra life insurance available for employee purchase), AD&D, Worker's Compensation
o Medical and Dental (two plans for each - high and low deductible) - 80% of base plan paid by Chemcut, 20% paid by employee
