To construct or repair a variety of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Responsible for assembling and testing complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment.

**Essential Functions**
· Reads and interprets blueprints or follows verbal and written instructions, as well as working from the part that needs to be replicated or fitted.
· Plans the setup and operation of various machine shop tools, taking into account material types, tolerances, cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feed rates and speeds.
· Executes complex machining operations that require unique setups, often necessitating improvisation and adaptation of tooling and machines to perform tasks beyond the standard range and capacity of available machine tools.
· Determines specific inspection criteria, utilizing precision measuring and gauging tools to conduct inspections before, during, and after the machining process.
· Carries out hand operations related to the production of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies, employing appropriate hand tools for the task.
· Constructs temporary fixtures and jigs, grinds specialized tools, and devises measuring devices to verify components and assembled projects.
· Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Sets up, operates, and tests dies to produce products that meet specifications, diagnosing issues with dies and implementing necessary corrections.
· Establishes new or modified tools and dies in production machines for trial runs, and provides guidance to Foremen or Machine Operators regarding their use, care, and operational procedures.
· May assist machinists and millwrights with punch press overhauls.
· Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

· Capability to stand for the duration of shift hours.
· Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
· Exceptional visual accuracy.
· Experience with CAD software is preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and care is required to ensure the safety of oneself and others when operating machinery.
**Education and Experience**
· Completion of an apprenticeship program or a diploma from a trade school.
· Two to five years of experience in tool and die making.
**Work Environment**
· Indoor setting with fluctuating temperatures.
· Dusty and noisy conditions.
· Exposure to odors and fumes.
