Job Title: Tool and Equipment Specialist

Department: Warehouse

Reports to: Raleigh Warehouse Manager

 

 

Summary of Position:

The Tool & Equipment Specialist performs hands-on tasks required to assign, track, monitor, repair, and maintain Newcomb & Company’s tools and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities and Job Duties:

Support Operations & Field Personnel by assigning and overseeing the preparedness of all company-owned/leased tools and equipment, including but not limited to various hand & power tools, welder generators, trailers, forklifts, hoisting & lifting equipment, etc. Inventory, categorize, assign, service, maintain, and repair company-owned tools and equipment. Inspect, test, and make minor repairs to company-owned tools and equipment. Monitor and maintain fuel gas cylinder inventory and place weekly orders. Monitor and maintain miscellaneous parts and consumables for applicable tools and equipment. Maintain and document weekly, monthly, and annual tests and inspection records for applicable equipment. Implement new tool tracking software (software TBD). Monitor, track, inspect, and test tool and equipment repairs made by vendors. Locate and procure repairs, repair parts, and consumables for applicable tools and equipment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and coworkers. Perform other additional duties as assigned, not limited to the above description.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist drivers and field crews with loading and unloading trucks and trailers. Assist with inventory, receivables, and deliveries. Assist with the company’s trash and recycling programs. Assist with inventory and fleet audits.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Must adhere to and participate in the company safety program. General working knowledge of computer software and applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, accounting systems, and tool tracking programs. Must be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and good at problem-solving and troubleshooting. Ability to obtain certification and operate a forklift and telehandler. Possess a clean, valid NC Class C Driver’s License (at minimum). Ability to obtain CDL Class A if required in the future. Ability to work 40 - 45 hours a week (typically Monday - Friday). Ability to receive and make phone calls after hours when required. Weekends and after-hours work may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform additional physical activities that require considerable use of limbs and appendages such as climbing, lifting, reaching above shoulders, balancing, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Ability to lift, move, and handle 80 lbs. tools or materials. Environmental conditions range from outdoors at all times of the year to indoors at normal office conditions to indoor tempered warehouse areas.

Compensation Range: Hourly wage based on experience.
