Job Title: Tool Design Engineer
Job Description

The Tool Design Engineer is responsible for using the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to obtain accurate dimensional analysis, utilizing SolidWorks modeling and drafting modules to create tool designs and component models, ensuring compliance with FAR’s, Industry Standards, and the Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM), and performing other duties as assigned. The role also involves coordinating and executing all aspects of Tooling Design & Manufacturing and researching and initiating repair schemes to support Repair & Overhaul functions.

ResponsibilitiesUse the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to obtain accurate dimensional analysis.Utilize SolidWorks modeling and drafting modules to create tool designs and component models.Ensure compliance with FAR’s, Industry Standards, and the Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM).Coordinate and execute all aspects of Tooling Design & Manufacturing.Research and initiate repair schemes to support Repair & Overhaul functions.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks.Experience in tooling design and tool design.Strong mechanical, aerospace, and engineering design skills.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and technical publications.Skill in using hand measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers, and basic measuring instruments like the optical comparator.Experience operating Coordinate Measuring equipment and Optical Comparators in Reverse Engineering.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamental and solid geometry and trigonometry.Proficiency in Microsoft Office basics.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering.Thorough knowledge of CAD Design & Drafting.Ability to analyze spreadsheets to identify cost traits for individual products.Effective presentation and communication skills.Experience using basic machine tools such as a Bridgeport Mill.Work Environment

This role operates in an engineering office setting with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
