Tool & Die Maker Up To 35/hr 1st Shift
**Job Title: Die Maker** **Job Description** As a Die Maker, you will be responsible for studying specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine the necessary materials for fabricating parts. You will compute dimensions, plan layouts, and sometimes determine the assembly method and sequence of operations. Additionally, you will measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining, set up and operate machines, and verify the conformance of machined parts to specifications. This role requires lifting machined parts, positioning and securing them on a surface plate or worktable, and smoothing flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders. You will also fit and assemble parts, verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in dies, heat treat tools or parts, and develop specifications for specialty tools. **Responsibilities** + Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required for fabricating parts. + Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations. + Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining. + Set up and operate machines and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications. + Lift machined parts and position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable. + Smooth flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders and fit and assemble parts. + Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in dies. + Heat treat tools or parts. + Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and recommend design modifications. + Develop specifications for specialty tools and draw or sketch designs of products. + Dowel and bolt parts together. + Work to tolerances as close as thousandths. + Dismantle dies and repair or replace parts. + Grind, file, and sand parts to fit for assembly and smooth and finish cavities. + Assemble dies or molds. **Essential Skills** + Proficient in tool and die making. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints. + Manual machining skills. + Experience with mills, lathes, and CNC machines. + Troubleshooting and repair skills. + Experience with progressive dies. + Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. + Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Two-year certificate from a college or technical school, or five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. + Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy a climate-controlled environment with production bonuses of up to $500 per month once permanent.
