**Job Position** **Title:** **Tool Maker**

**Position** **Summary:**
This position is responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation. This individual will collaborate, plan and organize internal resources to complete fabricated work across business units in timely and cost effective manner. Must have big picture view and ability to determine urgency of work; have the ability to run all machine tools in the shop, (mills, lathes, grinders, torches, welders, heat treat, saws and CNC equipment) as well as a thorough knowledge of steels, plastics and applications.) Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
**Duties/** **Responsibilities:**
+ Fabricate and repair parts for prototype equipment components and assistance with assembly of machinery as needed.
+ Install parts on production equipment as requested.
+ Fabricate parts for production equipment.
+ Assist in the troubleshooting of production equipment as needed.
+ May be required to order materials and schedule tool room work for others as necessary.
+ Recommend and make modifications as necessary.
+ Assist engineers in solving problems.
+ Perform miscellaneous tasks that improve throughput of the Tool room.
+ Thorough training in machine shop and tool room practice required.
+ Have ability to run machine tools in the shop (mills, lathes, grinders, torches, welders, heat treat, saws)
+ Have the ability to use all hand and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, travel dials, etc.)
+ Ability to work with all set-ups, machine designers, Engineers on plant wide projects, with a proven strength in walk-ins and hot jobs.
+ Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
**Education** **:**
+ High School diploma/GED required
+ Associates degree required
**Experience:**
+ **Mechanical aptitude** **required**
+ Previousexperience in tool and die fieldpreferred
+ **Troubleshooting and repair experience preferred**
+ Previous experience to machine and grind tolerances to .0001 to .0003 preferred
