Tool Maker

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Tool Maker who is proficient in handling assembly and disassembly of existing tools and performing tool repairs using manual mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders. The role involves working with multi-cavity, single-cavity, and two-cavity tooling, troubleshooting using CAD and Solidworks software, and conducting tool polishing and cleaning using an ice blaster. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting and problem-solving to ensure presses and machinery are operational and using inspection tools to ensure parts meet specifications. The candidate must have their own tools.

ResponsibilitiesThe Tool and Die Maker III assesses tool condition, troubleshoots complex tools, and works closely with engineering on tooling issues and design improvementsInspects highly complex tools (molds & dies) for damage and wear to assess overall conditionStudies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate partsComputes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operationsVerifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances on new and existing designsExamines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of partIncluding production machinesDevelops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of productSets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specificationsWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is a clean and climate-controlled tool room equipped with both manual and CNC machines. The team consists of 10 tool makers, engineers, and other support staff.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $87000.00/yr.
