Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to safely prepare and sharpen tooling for all machine centers in Wood Plant.
What you will do:
Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelinesInspect inside and outside of tool room at the end of each shift to ensure good housekeeping and organization.Learn tool cleaning procedures (moulder and finger joint)Use ultrasonic cleaner to clean FJ using established procedures. Notify supervisor when cleaning solution gets down to order point.Learn knife stock cutting proceduresTool balancing procedures and balance schedules (moulder and finger joint)Tool assembly (moulder and finger joint)Learn grinder operationKeep grinder properly maintained and grinder gaps properly adjusted.Tool measurementGrind heads for moulder.Sign all heads that you work on with your initials and date.Set-up all heads needed for moulders in advance.Keep finger joint heads sharp and ready, following all established procedures including posting and balancing procedures.Know what the moulders are currently running and what patterns they are going to run next.Do a weekly inventory of all accessories needed to run the tool room. Advise supervisor if anything needs to be ordered.Must keep a log on number of grinds for each head and balance head every 10 grindsAny other jobs assigned by supervisor.Excellent attendance is a basic job requirementWhat you will need:
Preferably one year experience in manufacturing settingHS Diploma or GED preferredAble to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screenKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Know how to read spec books, tape measure, and calipersMust be able to add & subtract fractions and whole numbers and convert fractions to decimals.Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk and climb stairs.Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptableAble to communicate effectively with employees from all departmentsExposure to normal factory environment: dust, heat, and noise.
