Job Title: Tool Room Supervisor

Reports To: Engineering Manager
Summary:
The Tool Room Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the tool room operations, ensuring the efficient and timely production of high-quality tooling for the ductile iron foundry. This includes overseeing tool design, maintenance, repair, and procurement, as well as managing the tool room staff and ensuring safety compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tool Management:
Oversee the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of all foundry tooling, including patterns, core boxes, molds, and fixtures.Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all tooling to meet production requirements and quality standards.Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all tooling.Manage the inventory and procurement of tooling and related supplies.Develop and implement cost-effective tooling solutions.Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor tool room personnel, including toolmakers, pattern makers, and maintenance technicians.Schedule and assign work to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines.Train and develop employees on safe work practices, new technologies, and improved techniques.Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to employees.Maintain a safe and productive work environment.Quality Control:
Establish and maintain quality control procedures for all tooling.Inspect and approve all tooling before release to production.Investigate and resolve tooling-related quality issues.Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling quality and efficiency.Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company safety policies.Conduct regular safety inspections and address any safety hazards.Promote a strong safety culture within the tool room.Communication & Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with production, engineering, and maintenance departments.Collaborate with other departments to resolve production issues and improve processes.Provide regular reports on tool room activities and performance.Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree in Tool and Die Making or related field preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tool room environment, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience. Experience in a foundry environment is highly preferred.Skills:
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.Knowledge of various tooling materials and manufacturing processes.Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Other:
Ability to lift and move heavy objects.Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
