Job Description
North Star Company is a premium roll forming company on the west coast of the United States. In this position, you will play a hands-on role in the design and development of tooling as well as servicing and care for existing tooling.
ResponsibilitiesDesign tooling, jigs, and fixtures according to part prints and schematics.Conduct tests for dimensions and tolerances for finished pieces.Develop and refine finished products with different tooling processes.Design and tool parts in a professional manufacturing environment with recommended Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) training.Utilize AutoCAD for designing blueprints and schematics.Design, build, and modify new and existing roll form tooling, including pre-punch and cut-off dies.Manage die drawings and data in correlation to our customers’ part designs.Oversee tool shop schedules, quality, and production.Manage tooling from initial designs through the tool build.Perform roll form trials for new and existing programs to maximize tooling efficiency and lifespan.Handle purchasing and tooling inventory management duties.Manage die component inventory.Redo tooling for the extrusion division and other company needs.Design dies for any pre-punch processes before material goes to roll forming.Design cut-off and punches to shear metal to the desired length.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Working knowledge of tool and die making.Hands-on experience with mills and lathes.Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and the use of hand and power tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD.Ability to manage tool life performance and oversee production quality.Work Environment
The work environment includes older machines and has a nostalgic, time-machine feel. The company is working to bring tool and die operations in-house and reduce reliance on sub-vendors. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The company offers benefits, performance bonuses, and growth potential within the organization.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
