AWE is currently recruiting for Tooling Design Engineers as we move into an exciting phase in our programme, to help support our vital role in keeping the Nation safe.
These roles are ideally suited to candidates that have an in-depth knowledge of Tooling Design and Manufacture.
Working within a highly regulated environment, the role of the Tooling Design Engineer is to develop bespoke hardware designs to support programme requirements.
Who are we looking for?
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
A detailed knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes which may include machining, presswork, inspection, moulding and metrologyDesign to Manufacture (D2M) experience of tooling or equipment including requirements capture, concept generation and down selection, development, manufacture and commissioningCreation of formal technical information including; Technical drawings (conforming with BS8888), design support information including reports and calculations. Experience of presenting at formal design reviews is beneficial3D parametric CAD packages, preferably Siemens NXProduct Lifecycle Management Tools, preferably Siemens TeamcenterDevelopment of hardware designs within a stage gated processDFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)An understanding and application of UK Health and Safety Legislation in a Manufacturing or Production environment including quality standards, best practice and proceduresAn Awareness of Model Based Realisation is beneficialSome reasons we think you’ll love it here:

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas if required
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston or Burghfield.
