Tooling Engineer
Description: Primary Responsibilities + Develop and Validate LD Files: + Collaborate with the Vehicle Manufacturing Team to gather necessary inputs for LD files. + Validate outputs with the LD File Team to ensure accuracy and completeness. + Coordinate Inputs: + Gather high-level plant layouts for conveyances/tools, referencing Standard Bill Of Process (SBOP) for standard layouts and noting any deviations. + Identify plant areas, line numbers, and sub-assembly lines to support LD numbering and flowcharts. + Reference tool numbers from TCe for existing locating features to document in LD files. + Collaborate with Process, Tooling, and Conveyor Teams: + Work closely with the Vehicle Manufacturing Process and Tooling Team to develop LD files for tooling interfaces with vehicle products. + Work closely with the Vehicle Manufacturing Conveyor Teams to develop LD files specifically for conveyor interfaces with vehicle products. + Ensure that all tooling and conveyor-related interfaces are accurately reflected in LD files to support seamless integration. + Support Specific Tools/Items: + Work with conveyances, major monuments, body decking, frame turnover, and other specified items to develop LD files. + Evaluate and determine the necessity of LDs for automation and bolt-on end items. Secondary Responsibilities + Tooling Feasibility: + Collaborate with Manufacturing Process and Tooling Engineers to evaluate tooling and/or conveyor interfaces with products. + Conduct CAD assessments and field checks to ensure integration feasibility. + Documentation and Reporting: + Write scopes of work for new tooling or modifications required for new model programs. + Report findings and recommendations for tooling integration and modifications. + Firefighting at the plant. Specific to the tooling they have experience with. + Writing scopes of work. + Could be for Body Decking Skills: Tooling, conveyer, dimensional control, stacking, Body Decking, Implementation, Lift Assist, ergonomics Additional Skills & Qualifications: + Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes, tooling, and assembly line operations. + CAD Proficiency: Ability to utilize CAD & TCe software for design and feasibility assessments. + Project Management: Experience in managing engineering projects, timelines, and deliverables. + Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings. + Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to evaluate and resolve manufacturing and tooling challenges.
