Tooling Engineer

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Tooling Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year.

**What you’ll do:**
**Position Overview:**
This role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of tooling and associated processes to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality. Responsible for maintaining documentation related to tool design standards and best practice sharing to engineering.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Review, prioritize and assign (toolmakers) incoming tool requests.
• Review incoming tool requests to ensure each tool request has sufficient information to fabricate tooling. If insufficient, work with the requestor to obtain the missing information.
• Act as liaison between engineering and tool room personnel including tool design reviews and approval.
• Update existing and/or develop new blueprints for tooling per client or project specifications.
• Reverse engineer to create new prints for existing tools.
• Assist with procuring materials and tooling needed to facilitate tooling builds.
• Determine when and which tools could be outsourced to improve overall tooling lead-time.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability of tooling.
• Maintain tooling design standard documentation including templates and identification log.
• Support preventative maintenance and ordering plans for consumable and manufactured tooling.
• Support Fab, Coupling, and Hose Tool Cribs.
• Drive standardization and best practice tool designs across plant.
• Ensure that latest tooling revision drawings are loaded into the company’s storage portal (ENOVIA).
• Maintain and administer the tool room’s CAD/CAM software system (Mastercam, Edgecam, Catia).
• Update tool room department operational metric charts and develop improvement plans based on that data.
• Develop quarterly training plan for the tool room.
• Develop standards, procedures, training as necessary.
**Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
+ Minimum 5 years of professional experience in operations, engineering, or tool design.
+ This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
+ No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
+ Experience in a hands-on technical position, such as: tool & die maker, machinist, draftsman, CAD/CAM designer.
+ Able to develop full blueprints according to ASME-Y14.5-2008 and application of GD&T
+ Experience in machining and tool manufacturing/design.
+ Journeyman qualification in machining or tool & die.
+ Experience working with quoting process.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and balance multiple objectives.
+ Project management experience and ability to multitask.
+ Experience in a hands-on technical position, such as: tool & die maker, machinist, draftsman, CAD/CAM designer.
+ Able to develop full blueprints according to ASME-Y14.5-2008 and application of GD&T.
+ Knowledge and understanding of additive manufacturing technologies.
+ Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
+ Ability to work in fast past manufacturing environments.
