Job Responsibilities:
About the Role
Under the direction of the engineering manager, the tooling engineer understands the needs of the project customers and translates them into specifications for the tester development team to implement, (e.g. electrical, mechanical, software etc.) and checks that the product meets the project team expectations. The tools engineer is also responsible to lead the global effort in developing tester development processes and methods to improve quality of work products and efficiency of the team and core tester designs that can be reused across projects.
Your Responsibilities
Support upfront design development of BIW Tooling interaction as well with suppliers to create new manufacturing methods and control strategies to achieve specifications and ensure a flawless execution during launchApprove stamping die designs and manages suppliers performance to build scheduleManage stamping suppliers with priorities, deadlines, and quantities, driving suppliers for on time deliverables. Track and manage Press Line Trial for new dies and Engineering ChangesFeedback die issues to Engineering team for resolution. Manage Engineering Changes with supply base to ensure successful implementation Plan and manage outsource stampings. Schedules and monitors all forming activities, from design kick-off, tooling, and engineering builds through mass productionSupport commercial and costs activities, fixture costs, tooling costs, test costs, etc., during NPI engineering, buildsWho we are looking for
5+ years of Program Management or Tool Engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment or moreTandem, progressive, blanking, transfer stamping and Roll formingBIW experience with focus on the design and build of stamping diesBachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques – tooling, metal stamping, assembly and testingWorking knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environmentYour preferred qualifications
Strong mechanical, time management and analysis skillsKnowledge of material properties, mechanics of materials and how these materials react when subjected to varying stamping conditionsAbility to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and practices related to the metal stamping and roll forming process as well as develop innovative solutions when necessaryAble to use MS Office- Excel, Project, and WordManage Engineering Changes with supply base to ensure successful implementation Manage stamping suppliers with priorities, deadlines, and quantities, driving suppliers for on time deliverablesWhat we offer
