Tooling Inspection Supervisor

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Tooling Inspection Supervisor to join a leading Company located in the Los Alamitos, CA surrounding area.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
Performs the in-process and final inspection of tools, fixtures, and jigs used in the subassembly and final assembly of manufactured products. Analyze engineering blueprints, models, process specifications, shop travelers, and manufacturing planning documents to determine the nature and extent of inspection requirements. Maintains accurate records of all tool calibration activities and monitors intervals with a high level of accuracy. Works with production supervisors and leads to maintain steady flows of tooling in and out of designated queues.
Responsibilities:Determines most practical inspection method and technique; plans sequence of operation; selects precision measuring instruments and equipment to dimensionally inspect unitsUses shop mathematics, decimals and fractions in the performance of the work noted hereinConducts the first article, receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection assignments as applicable; visually and dimensionally inspects a wide variety of tooling and aerospace assemblies/componentsPrepares rework tags, inspection reports, and documentationCoordinates rejection with MRB, engineering, and customer representatives for depositions and process refinementAssembles end item documentation for the review and acceptance of finished productsPrepares and maintains history files, records, and reportsPlans and executes daily workflow to support manufacturing operationsOther duties may be assignedSet-up and run Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine with Calypso 5.4 softwareOperate Metronics QC5000 CMM programOperate Romer Arm Verisurf with version 10 softwareMaintain CMM cleanliness and operationsOperate and maintain ComparatorsInterpret complex tool drawingsUse Standard Measuring Instruments (including sine plates) to make inspection set-upsInitiate appropriate inspection reportsRecord inspection resultsMaintain inspection dataLocate tools and perform periodic inspections on tooling listed on the monthly dispatch reportFile drawings and reportsAssist inspection whenever necessaryReview and accept inspection data from outside facilitiesCoordinate design efforts with the Manufacture Engineering DepartmentCoordinate tool inspection priorities with the Tool Control DepartmentMaintain area in a neat, clean, and orderly mannerMake complex surface plate set-ups to evaluate multi-plane compound characteristicsUse trigonometry to solve angles and legs of triangles generated by set-upsCompare part drawings to ensure compatibility and anticipated resultsAnalyze dimensional characteristics on the first parts produced on a tool to determine if production parts will be within specific tolerance limitsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the inspection workflow within the Tool Inspection departmentSchedules the daily work assignments of the assigned inspection teamEnsures resources are allocated to support operations/company objectives, which may include overtime needs of the businessWill be responsible for employee performance evaluations at planned intervals
Basic Hiring Criteria:High School degree or equivalent; related AA or trade school degree preferredMinimum 3-5 years of related Quality Assurance CMM inspection and supervisory experience; Experience must include interface with customer source representatives, government sources, internal departments, and senior managementUS Citizenship or permanent residency is required
Desired Qualifications:Working knowledge of NetInspect, Inspection Expert, AS9100, AS9101, Boeing, Northrop, Lockheed Martin, and DCMA specificationsCertification in CMM processes and software is highly desirableMust be proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments typical of the tool and die-making trade including: Zeiss coordinate measuring machines w/ Calypso 5.4 software; angle plates; dial indicators; gauge blocks; height gauges; parallels; protractors; sine bars; v-blocks; transits; levels; and other general inspection instrumentsMust be able to read/interpret blueprints/engineering drawingsMust have a working proficiency with shop geometry, trigonometry, and descriptive geometryMust interface effectively across organizational levelsMust have good organizational skills and maintain accurate, complete documentationMust be able to solve problems, including root cause and corrective actionsMust have excellent communication skills, both written and oralMust be computer/PC proficient including MS Office suite
