The role of the Monitoring Engineer is to provide engineering services to support the evolution of the Monitoring toolset. The work is always in alignment to the current and approved architectural, roadmaps, technology standards and templates, governance and change management policies set forth by the firm.

Following established written procedures, guidelines and techniques, develops, enhances, tests, supports, maintains, and debugs software applications that support business units or support functions. Individual contributor role; fully competent to work under general direction on the most complex projects, often on multiple phases, and seeks guidance and direction from more senior associates or manager, as needed. Working knowledge of business or function for which application is designed. Often responsible for the completion of a phase of a project.

Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain a scalable and reliable fault and configuration management platform, resulting in improved system performance and reduced downtimeCollaborate with key stakeholders to assess current infrastructure and identify opportunities for optimization and improved system resilienceAssist with Audit deliverables for Network ToolsetWork with vendors to enhance their respective tools to meet new customer/security requirementsDevelop integrations for the various Network ToolsIdentify gaps in current systems and processes and recommend appropriate solutionsDevelop detailed documentation including process flows, use cases, and technical designsEnsure compliance with security and governance standards

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in Networks or System Tools EngineeringStrong knowledge of system and networking concepts​Experience in deploying Network Management tools, such as Netcool Omnibus, Netcool Impact, Network Manager, SevONE, Forward Networks in high-availability environmentsConfiguration of Network discovery across multi-region environmentFunctional knowledge of Network components such as switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, load balancers etc. Understanding of inter-dependencies of various network componentsExperience working with networking protocols such as BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, VLAN, VXLAN, etcLinux/Unix Server Administration​

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related field and or technical trainingSelf-starter, self-directed and shows initiativeFocused on execution, delivery, and commitment to datesSkills in Scripting desired; Python, Ansible, Shell, JavaScriptFamiliarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and Agile Project deliverySound engineering foundation with network and systems troubleshooting skillsWorking knowledge of Active DirectoryCan tie strategy and actions to business impact and resultsDemonstrates ownership: Is accountable and can hold others accountable (professionally)Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to communicate and influence upward as well as laterallyOrganized and detail oriented; must have a strong technical acumenAbility to partner with others for the good of the initiativeExperience in various Fault Monitoring and Configuration Management tooling vendors including but not limited to IBM, SevONE, Forward Networks, SPLUNK, as well as equipment manufacturers such as Cisco, Aruba, Cloudgenix, FortinetFinancial services (Insurance, Banking, Investment banking)
