Minimum Requirements:
Current Arcadia Middle School GCSD Teacher
New York State Teaching Certification in Grade 6-8 core content area. Strong background in culturally responsive education and restorative practices.
Desired Qualifications:
To provide leadership and support to build the capacity of all school stakeholders, to create a more culturally responsive community, strengthening student voice and ownership of learning experience while supporting equity, coherence, collaboration and excellence. Is currently working in a similar position.
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Introduce all teachers to restorative practices and support implementation of Tier 1 RP strategies for all staff and students.
Small group instruction centering around restorative practice
Implement and manage a Tier 2 Restorative Practice System– Peer Mediation
Support Re-entry Plan for students returning from short and long term suspension.
Collaboration with Center for Youth
Build various Restorative Practices systems and supports
Provide staff and student training in Restorative Practices
Identify data to be collected for restorative interventions
Establishing connections between the school and community through service based projects
Provide staff coaching around restorative practices
Facilitate a Restorative Practice team and participate on other building committees
Attend Restorative Practices District level meetings
Providing professional development for educators on building stronger classroom communities through restorative practices and culturally responsive instruction
Attend and support building level and district level Guardians of Equity
Work with administration and team leaders to develop, evaluate and recommend culturally responsive based instructional tools that will effectively and efficiently support student learning.
