Goldbelt TRAM is seeking knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tour Guides to lead visitors on tours of/and about both Juneau, Alaska's cultural landmarks and historic sites and Mt Roberts Alpine Loop Trail. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Alaska Native culture, history, and storytelling and be able to share their knowledge in an engaging and informative way.
Pay and Benefits:
Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Sign-on Bonus and Layoff Employee Bonus Plan (“Plans”) is designed to provide an effective means to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. However, Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, in the sole discretion of the Company.
Goldbelt, Inc. hopes that by providing short-term incentive compensation, this will motivate and increase the retention rate among its employees which in turn will enhance Goldbelt Inc.’s long-term value.
Starting Wage: $16.00-DOE
Responsibilities
Job Duties
Responsible for planning and conducting tours, providing commentary on the city's Alaska Native cultural and historical significanceGreet all guests with a smile upon arrival; maintain good energy and optimism in a fast-paced environmentManage the waiting list like a pro; record names and party numbers then provide an estimated waiting timeEnsure the safety and satisfaction of tour participantsAnswers questions of groupsDistribute brochures on establishment and the historical site to visitorsLead accurate, informative and fun toursThank guests as they leave and invite them to return; help ensure that every guest creates a positive memoryOther duties and tasks may be assignedQualifications
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inform diverse groups of people.Strong knowledge and/or enthusiasm of Alaska Native cultural and historical significance, including the Tlingit and Haida people, and their role in Juneau's history.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.Knowledge of tourism industry practices and trends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Tour Guides must have an ability to memorize historical facts while also being able to adapt to any scripted materials for each tourMust be service orientedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
High school or GEDExperience in a tour-related or entertainment industry desiredKnowledge of safety and emergency procedures, including CPR and First Aid certification
