Tournament and Pro Shop Supervisor
Summary This position will be assigned to the JBSA Golf Course at Fort Sam Houston, located in San Antonio, TX. This is a Regular Part Time position with guaranteed 20 work hrs./wk., may work up to 40 hrs./wk. Employees appointed to a regular position are eligible for benefits. Responsibilities Responsible for efficient operation of the golf course pro shop, driving range, cart rental, club storage, handicap system and golf instruction activities. Supervises Golf pro shop staff members, cart runners and contract professionals. Provides patron guidance for selection of golf equipment and merchandise, and trains pro shop staff to do the same. Recommends appropriate level of golf instruction to interested patrons and recruits and makes recommendations for hiring contract professional teachers. Recommends programs to develop and patron interest in scheduled golf events and tournaments. Schedules tee times, golf clinics, lessons and tournaments. Works with tournament POC from initial contact to tournament completion, assisting in all areas. Coordinates all requirements for Food and Beverage with Snack Bar, supplying the final customer count 48 hours prior to tournament. Assists patrons with golf club rental, assigns golf carts, sells pro-shop merchandise, processes patron special orders, and informally demonstrates equipment usage. Establishes inventory levels for pro shop, accomplishes an annual purchasing plan, and places orders as needed. Monitors all items to prevent overstocking and develops suggested plans for reducing stock when necessary. Explains course safety rules and regulations to patrons. Receives and logs merchandise and creates merchandise displays. Ensures all sales, fees and charges are rung up on the cash register. Responsible for maintaining the pro shop in a neat, clean and orderly condition. Ensures only authorized patrons use golf course and facilities. Ensures carts are well maintained and available for golfers both for daily use and for tournaments. Responsible for appearance and functionality of driving range, and ensuring balls are stocked, the area is clean, the ball dispensing machine is serviceable, and balls are picked up at least twice a day. Collects income for club storage and handicap system and makes sure they are meeting the patron needs. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience, which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of golf course operations including the rules of golf, equipment sale and repair, tournament organization and handicapping. Must have experience in retail golf operations and must have training in golf fitting. Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash or cash substitute items when this includes (l) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods. Experience in basic supply/inventory techniques is desirable. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): 1.
