Battelle’s Aviation Security Division provides test and evaluation services to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The qualified candidate for this position will support Independent Test and Evaluation (IT&E) events for security technologies at the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL). Candidate will be responsible for working directly with the client and the team to lead coordination, planning, execution, analysis, and reporting for discrete test events for the Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) program. These test efforts may involve the use of live explosives.
This is a lead role, with the qualified candidate assuming responsibility for being the primary client interface for ETD-related efforts and providing technical and programmatic direction for staff assigned to support ETD efforts.Leads teams in compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.Working closely with client stakeholders to design, plan, and execute test events, including leading technical staff in data collection, analysis, and reporting.Leads the preparation of project results, both orally and in written form, and is expected to interface daily with clients and stakeholders on-site, including system vendors as required.Oversees the daily activities of engineering and technician staff that support the program and works with client and program stakeholders to support resource and staffing needs.Key Qualifications Successful completion of study from an accredited college or university resulting in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or other related field. At least 2 or more years of practical experience in Chemistry with a Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree. Experience with operating ETD systems and an understanding of their operation and functionality.A working knowledge of detection testing, test design, test development, and requirements/standards.Experience leading teams for contracted work on a client site.Strong oral and written communication skills.Significant experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Candidates should be highly motivated and self-starters with a strong desire to learn.The candidate must be able to travel, if required.
